New River Rafting Trips
The New River Gorge National River is known as the "Grand Canyon of the East". It is a place of wonder where natural beauty and rich cultural history are waiting to be discovered. And the whitewater is fantastic!
The New River Gorge is chock full of scenic beauty with many places to relax and play along the way. The Upper New River offers easy rafting featuring Class II-III rapids that are relatively mild in nature. Go by raft or by duckie…the choice is yours! Duckies are inflatable kayaks that can be navigated by one or two people. They are a popular choice among youth, scout and school groups because they challenge young people on an individual level. Nevertheless rafts are always available for those who want a team experience. The idea is to design a trip that will suit the characteristics of your particular group according to the age, ability and temperament of each participant.
The Lower New River offers one of the most exciting white water rafting trips in the country with over 25 rapids ranging from Class II-IV. The characteristics of the river can vary greatly tipping the scale from big water runs in the spring and early summer to more technical flows common during the mid to late summer months. The forgiving pool/drop nature of this river offers calm water between rapids to regroup before moving downstream making it an ideal choice for youth, scout and school groups.
Or, pack all the excitement and intensity of the Lower New full-day into a shorter half-day format on the New River Rapid Run! These trips are available in the morning or afternoon and if more action is what you want, go for a Double which combines two Rapid Run trips in the same day!
